During distance learning, the share of high school students infected with coronavirus has almost halved.

Students in grades 6-11 of Moscow schools will continue to study remotely. The remote training format was extended for another two weeks – from November 9 to 22. This was reported by Sergei Sobyanin in my blog…

“For three weeks now, students in grades 6-11 have been on distance learning. During this time, the proportion of those infected with covid among high school students has almost halved. This means that they themselves get sick less and infect their loved ones less, ”the Moscow Mayor said.

Distance learning is helping to stabilize the COVID-19 incidence, he said, along with adhering to the mask regime and moving 30 percent of office workers to telecommuting. The dynamics of newly detected cases of infection gradually began to decline in Moscow. But at the beginning of the week, the situation worsened both in the number of new patients and in the number of hospitalizations.

“A lot of guys want to go back to classes. This is understandable. But in the current situation and against the background of what is happening around us and abroad, it is obvious that it is too early to relax. Therefore, distance learning for students in grades 6-11 will be extended for another two weeks – from November 9 to 22, 2020, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

He added that the city will try to do everything to ensure that distance learning does not worsen the quality of education.

About 500 thousand pupils of 6-11 grades have been on distance learning since October 19. It is the children of senior school age who are more at risk of contracting coronavirus infection. In addition, high school students are better at information technology. Therefore, it was decided to send them to remote control. This measure allowed to maintain the downward trend in the incidence of schoolchildren.

The first two weeks of distance learning have passed without crashing… During this time, teachers have conducted more than one million online lessons in “Moscow Electronic School”… Distance-learning students have received nearly six million marks in e-zines.
