Wodonga Crime Investigation Unit detectives have seized cannabis plants following the execution of search warrants in Gundowring this morning.

Officers attended a Gundowring Road address and discovered a sophisticated underground hydroponic set-up.

Police arrested a 53-year-old man and seized cannabis plants and further evidence of drug trafficking.

It’s alleged the sophisticated operation included an electricity bypass.

The Gundowring man has been charged with cultivating and trafficking a drug of dependence, as well as theft of power.

He has been bailed to appear before the Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on 21 April.
