Anabel González was the first woman to serve as Director of the WTO’s Agriculture and Commodities Division from 2006 to 2009. She served as Costa Rica’s Trade Minister from 2010 to 2014, when she joined the World Bank Group as Senior Director of Global Practice and Competitiveness until 2017. In this capacity, she led a team of 500 people to design and implement the World Bank’s Group agenda in the areas of trade, investment climate, competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship.
