Take action against extremism in the Bundeswehr even more effectively

Today, Wednesday, the draft of a law to amend military regulations introduced by the federal government will be debated in the German Bundestag. The defense policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Henning Otte, explains:

“The Bundeswehr must be able to react appropriately and promptly to serious violations of duty. This is particularly important in order to be able to remove extremists from service quickly and effectively.

That is why we want to expand the powers of the employer with the planned changes to military regulations. This includes strengthening the disciplinary superiors, longer limitation periods for simple misconduct and the longer-term possibility of immediate dismissal in the case of particularly serious misconduct.

We are also sending a clear signal that we will not tolerate extremists in the Bundeswehr. It is important to preserve the good reputation of the troops.

Because the vast majority of the members of the Bundeswehr are impeccable soldiers who do their duty in an exemplary manner. “
