Supporters of students with disabilities (AESH) performing the duties of referents within the National Education are now compensated for this function. A decree establishes this compensation and a decree specifies its amount and terms of payment. They appeared in the Official Journal of October 24, 2020.

The amount of this compensation is set at € 600 gross annually, or € 50 per month. It is paid monthly. It is in addition to the remuneration paid as of September 2020.

This compensation is subject to the effective exercise of the mission which can cover several forms:

methodological support to AESHs in their geographic sector: sharing of professional actions, personalized advice, distribution of tools;
specific support for newly recruited AESHs with a view to facilitating their taking up their duties and their belonging to the educational community;
contributions to work carried out at the departmental, academic or national level with a view to pooling best practices and tools for supporting students with disabilities;
contributions to training actions followed by AESH.

Namely: The AESH referent function was created by the law of July 26, 2019 for a School of Confidence which allows their recruitment by three-year contract renewable once and an indefinite contract after six years.
