Newburgh, NY – Today, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) presented Korean War Veteran Joseph Reynolds, of Fishkill, with 7 medals and decorations he earned for his service.

“Helping Hudson Valley veterans obtain the medals they’ve earned in service is one way we can show our gratitude for those who put their lives on the line defending our freedom,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “It was an honor to present Joseph Reynolds with the medals he earned in Korea. I’m thankful for the opportunity to come together with his family, loved ones, and the community, to recognize Joseph’s selfless service.”

Mr. Reynolds was presented the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Honorable Discharge Lapel Pin.

Joseph Reynolds enlisted into the United States Navy in August of 1951, and was assigned to a repair ship and sent to the Sea of Japan, where he rose to the rank of Machinery Repairman 2nd Class (MR2). Following his honorable discharge, he would go on to attend night school in order to become a mechanical engineer, and eventually earn his masters from Union College. In April 2019, Mr. Reynolds participated in the Hudson Valley Honor Flight – Mission #22. Following his experience with the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, he realized that he had not received any of his medals entitled to him as a Korean War veteran. Mr. Reynolds then contacted Rep. Maloney’s office to seek help obtaining the medals and decorations he earned.

Rep. Maloney’s office is available to help veterans and their families deal with any issue they might be having with the Veterans Affairs Administration. This includes getting copies of service records, receiving benefits, and replacing medals earned. Constituents can reach the office by calling 845-561-1259 or visiting seanmaloney.house.gov.
