Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Mental Health Minister, responding to the closure of mental health campaign, Time to Change, said:
“It’s deeply saddening that Time to Change will be closing when their funding ends next spring, after fifteen years of challenging stigma and attitudes associated with mental illness.
“When the Health Secretary announced a five-year funding investment for Time to Change in 2016, the Government stated that tackling stigma was essential to improving the mental wellbeing of the country.
“Many will be suffering the negative effects of job losses and closures within the mental health sector. With NHS services stretched, those left without support rely on charities during times of crisis. It is now more important than ever that the Government ensure we do not see more announcements like this in the coming weeks.”
