Today, Tuesday, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) starts the two-day conference “IndTech2020” on the subject of industrial technologies as part of the German EU Council Presidency. The “Industrial Technologies 2020 – Transition to Sustainable Prosperity” offers a Europe-wide forum for participants from politics, business, science and civil society. At the opening of the conference, State Secretary Wolf-Dieter Lukas explains: “We all feel that the international competition for the technologies of the future is in full swing. The European Union has the clear aim of setting quality standards worldwide with industrial technologies “Made in Europe”. The development and distribution of industrial technologies is the engine of jobs and prosperity in Europe. It is important to maintain this and to develop it further at the highest level. With this goal in mind, we are striving for even closer cooperation between the member states of the European Union. IndTech 2020 is all about this and I am pleased that the conference can take place in a digital format despite all the adversities caused by the pandemic. This also shows the great will in Europe to break new ground on the subject of technological sovereignty. ”The Director General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, Jean-Eric Paquet, emphasizes:“ Europe has always been the home of industry and a leader in industrial Innovation. The rapid changeover to climate neutrality, sustainability and digitization can only succeed if industry takes on a leading role again in the development and dissemination of innovative technologies. I am delighted that the German EU Council Presidency has dedicated the important IndTech conference to this topic. ”Background: The European meeting point for industrial technologies“ IndTech2020 – Transition to Sustainable Prosperity ”invites interested parties from research, Industry and politics are invited to virtually discuss future trends and technological challenges in the European research landscape. A special focus is on the topics of battery technologies, biologization and digitization in materials technology, production and manufacturing technologies, green deals, low carbon and circular economy. Around 1,000 participants are expected.
