At the conference, veterans discussed matters such as measures to increase leadership capacity, Party building and rectification, as well as measures to enhance education, science, national defence, security and external relations.

They also offered their opinions regarding the report on the implementation of the socio-economic development strategy for the 2011-2020 period and the strategy for the next ten years.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member and Head of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai said she highly appreciates the veterans’ contributions to the Party documents.

She affirmed that the collection of public feedback on such documents has evoked the people’s spirit of responsibility towards the Party and the country, helping to achieve a broad consensus on perception and action across the Party, the people and the armed forces.

Mai also expressed her hope that the veterans will continue to make contributions in other aspects, such as the socialist-oriented market mechanism and human resources development, in order to improve the quality of the Party documents.
