The Montana Farm Bureau (MFBF) on Friday presented Congressman Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) with its Friend of Farm Bureau Award.
“It’s a tremendous honor to receive this Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the Farm Bureau for the work we’ve done back in Congress,” Gianforte said. “Ag is our number one industry. It’s been a rough year with COVID-19 and not getting fair prices, but I’m optimistic. I think there’s a lot we can to do help our farmers and ranchers get back on their feet and prosper again.”
John Youngberg, executive vice president of the MFBF, said, “We appreciate his willingness to listen to us. His open-door policy allows us to come in and work with him. And also his votes on issues: he’s been golden for agriculture, which is appropriate since it is Montana’s number one industry.”
Nicole Rolf, MFBF’s director of national affairs, said, “Congressman Gianforte is a true friend to the farmers and ranchers of Montana. He takes the time to really understand the wide variety of issues impacting us in our state and seeks out solutions with a business mindset and a dedicated work ethic. We appreciate all that he has done to support Montana agriculture while in Congress and are proud to recognize him with the Friend of Farm Bureau Award.”
The American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) gives the Friend of Farm Bureau each Congress to lawmakers who have supported Farm Bureau policy, were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureau, and were approved by the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors. The voting records of the 116th Congress are based on priority issues selected by the AFBF board.
Gianforte also received the award in 2018.
