Menzingen: Once inattentive – three times total loss
After a traffic accident, three cars are a case for the junkyard. The person who caused the accident was injured and taken to the hospital for a check-up.
The accident occurred on Saturday evening (October 24, 2020), shortly after 6.45 p.m., on the cantonal road between Schmittli and Nidfuren. A 75-year-old driver drove from Ägeri towards Zug. In a right turn she came into the opposite lane and crashed into the side of an oncoming car. This lost a wheel, turned 180 degrees and came to a standstill in the opposite direction of travel. At the same time, the vehicle of the person who had caused the accident crashed into a second car, which was also on its way towards Ägeri.
The property damage to the three vehicles involved is considerable. All three suffered total write-offs and had to be transported away. While the person who had caused the accident was injured and had to be taken to the hospital for a check-up, the occupants of the two oncoming cars were fortunately uninjured.
Since alcohol symptoms were found in the 75-year-old who had caused the accident, the on-call public prosecutor ordered a blood sample in the hospital.
The cantonal road between Schmittli and Nidfuren had to be closed in both directions while the accident was being recorded and the vehicle was being recovered.
Employees from the Zug rescue service, a private towing company and the Zug police were on duty.
