According to the head of the Russian National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction, Sergei Ryzhkov, within the framework of the implementation of the International Treaty on Open Skies, the Russian group of inspectors plans to perform an observation flight on the Russian An-30B observation aircraft over the territory of Slovenia.

The observation flight over the territory of Slovenia will be carried out from October 26 to 30, 2020 from the Ljubljana Open Skies airfield. The maximum flight range will be 500 kilometers.

The Russian observation aircraft will fly along the route agreed with the observed party, and the Slovenian specialists on board will monitor the procedure for using observation equipment and compliance with the provisions of the agreement.

Observation flights within the framework of the treaty are carried out with the aim of promoting greater openness and transparency in the military activities of the participating states, as well as strengthening security through strengthening confidence-building measures.
