The meeting of the convicts serving their sentences in the colony-settlement No. 12 with the cleric of the Church of St. Sergius of Radanezh in Ust-Labinsk, Priest Dionisy Khizunenko, was held within the framework of a week of interreligious dialogue.

During the week, the convicts had the opportunity to learn in depth the basics of traditional world religions, to learn the meaning and significance of various religious rituals. For these purposes, in addition to communicating with the clergyman, the convicts were given an educational quiz “What do we know about religion?” Through the cable television network, documentaries were shown on the history of the emergence of traditional religious teachings.

In the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, various spiritual and educational events among convicts are organized on a regular basis. Thus, the implementation of human rights in places of deprivation of liberty, associated with the right of convicts to freedom of conscience and freedom of religion, is carried out. In addition, a constant reminder of the basic spiritual, moral and religious values, promotes law-abiding behavior, helps to educate inmates a tolerant attitude towards representatives of different religions and their mutual respect.
