The Prosecutor’s Office of the Mamontovsky District of the Altai Territory carried out an inquiry on the appeal of the mother of a disabled child about the violation of his right to free provision of medical products.
It has been established that the applicant’s 6-year-old son suffers from diabetes mellitus. As part of the high-tech medical care provided to the boy, a specialized insulin pump was installed. For further treatment, the child was shown to use medical devices – consumables for an insulin pump. Despite the appointment of a doctor, no prescription has been issued for receiving them free of charge. The mother of a disabled child was forced to purchase them at her own expense, spending over 23 thousand rubles. For the protection of the rights of a minor, she turned to the prosecutor at her place of residence.
Based on the results of the inspection, the district prosecutor sent a statement of claim to the court to impose on the regional ministry of health the obligation to compensate the woman’s expenses for the purchase of medical devices.
The court satisfied the requirements of the supervisory authority. As a result of the intervention of the prosecutor’s office, the rights of the disabled child have been restored, the funds have been paid in full.
