The Prosecutor’s Office of the Chita District of the Trans-Baikal Territory conducted a check on information received from law enforcement agencies about illegal gold mining.

It was established that in June – July 2020, a 44-year-old resident of Transbaikalia, in a quarry on the territory of one of the rural settlements of the Chita region, illegally mined placer gold weighing 0.3 kg and costing about 1.2 million rubles.

When transporting the precious metal to the regional center for the purpose of its further sale, the man was stopped at the post of the road patrol service by law enforcement officers, who seized all the illegally mined gold from the driver.

The prosecutor’s office opened two cases against the man about administrative offenses provided for by hch. 1, 3 tbsp. 15.44 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (illegal mining and movement of precious metals).

By the decisions of justices of the peace of judicial districts 33 and 34 of the Chita judicial region of the Trans-Baikal Territory, he was brought to administrative responsibility with the appointment of fines in the total amount of 1.2 million rubles.
