Saturday, October 24, 2020, around 10:20 a.m., the Cantonal Police Engagement and Transmission Center (CET) was notified by several witnesses that a small tourist plane had fallen in a field, on the territory of the municipality of Gimel. Quickly on the spot, the emergency services could only note the death of the pilot, a Swiss octogenarian, domiciled in the canton of Geneva. From the first elements, it appears that this aircraft had taken off from Prangins at around 9:15 a.m.

A criminal investigation was opened by the prosecutor on duty. Investigations to determine the causes of this accident are being carried out by specialists from the Swiss Security Investigation Service (SESE), in collaboration with the gendarmes of the Traffic Unit.

This event required the intervention of an ambulance, a SMUR vehicle, several patrols of the Gendarmerie, the forensic brigade of the Security Police, firefighters from SIS Morget and staff of the Swiss Service of ‘security investigation.
