The final of the competition in high-speed maneuvering in fire trucks “Trassa-01” has ended in the Northern capital.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of honored guests, in particular, State Secretary, Deputy Head of the EMERCOM of Russia Alexey Serko, Head of the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia Alexei Anikin, members of the Government of St. region, as well as the chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Igor Maksimtsev – rector of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

The main goal of the competition is to improve road safety, improve driving skills and improve the professional skills of fire truck drivers.

Teams of fire and rescue divisions of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in St. Petersburg, the Committee on Legality, Law Enforcement and Security of St. Petersburg and GKU Lenoblpozhspas took part in the “races on fire trucks”. 60 teams took part in the qualifying stage of the competition, and only 9 of them reached the final. As a result of a tense struggle, the winners of the competition were driver Alexander Zakharov and navigator Alexander Vasiliev, representatives of the Moscow District Administration, second place was taken by driver Anton Bilibin and navigator Nikolai Soloviev from PSO of the Moscow District, and bronze went to driver Andrey Belyaev and navigator Anton Galashov from the Vyborgsky Administration district of St. Petersburg.

The competition program consisted of exercises that the driver had to complete in the shortest possible time, trying not to make mistakes, and was a high-speed ride with overcoming obstacles, performing certain figures, taking water from an open water source and damaging a conditional fire from the trunk.

Alexey Serko, Deputy Head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, who watched the competition, noted that everything was demonstrated, those elements that rescuers use in their daily practice, hurrying to leave in the conditions of the busy highways of the metropolis. Their professional skills are truly amazing.

For everyone who came that day to cheer for the crews of the competition participants, interactive zones were organized taking into account the celebration in 2020 of two significant dates at once – the 75th anniversary of Victory and the 30th anniversary of the EMERCOM of Russia. The program of the event also included a demonstration of modern fire and emergency rescue equipment of St. Petersburg rescuers, samples of firefighters’ retro technology from the collection of the B.I. Konchaev and private collections, samples of military equipment during the Great Patriotic War, traffic police equipment of the 80s of the last century and modern samples of operational service cars and motorcycles of the traffic police.
