The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is transferring a mobile multidisciplinary hospital in order to provide medical assistance in the treatment of a new coronavirus infection to the population of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Servicemen of the mobile multidisciplinary hospital for 150 beds of the Western Military District began to march under their own power on standard equipment with a length of more than 1900 kilometers from Alabino near Moscow to South Ossetia.

The field medical unit consists of 133 military personnel and 37 units of special military equipment.

Upon completion of the march, a mobile multidisciplinary hospital will be deployed as soon as possible in the area of ​​Tskhinvali, where military doctors will begin to receive and provide medical care to the population of the Republic.

The mobile multidisciplinary hospital is a medical unit based on pneumo-frame structures and is intended for inpatient treatment of patients with a new coronavirus infection. It includes: reception and sorting, hospital and infectious diseases, sanitary and epidemiological departments, as well as the department of anesthesiology and intensive care.

For carrying out medical and diagnostic measures, the hospital is equipped with artificial ventilation devices, monitors for intensive observation of patients, X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, blood analyzers and a PCR laboratory.

On October 22, by the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, set the task of promptly deploying a multifunctional mobile hospital in South Ossetia to help the population of the Republic in treatment of the new coronavirus infection.
