For reference:

After Japan launched a war against China in 1937, Western countries took the position of outside observers. At a critical moment, only the USSR came to China’s aid in the fight against the aggressors. The first group of volunteer soldiers arrived in China on October 23, 1937. Soviet military specialists stood next to the Chinese soldiers.

Military-technical deliveries were large-scale. From November 1937 to January 1942, 1285 aircraft, 1600 guns of various calibers, 82 tanks, 14000 machine guns, a large number of rifles, shells, cartridges, aerial bombs, spare parts and other equipment were delivered to China.

All this equipment had to be serviced, prepared for battles. In the rear and on the fronts of the anti-Japanese war, more than 5,000 Soviet people worked and fought.

In 1938, on the basis of Soviet technology, the first mechanized division in the history of the Chinese army was created. Tank instructors and artillery instructors took a direct part in the hostilities.

The supply of weapons and equipment, the actions of Soviet military advisers and specialists made it possible to restore the combat potential of the Chinese troops after heavy defeats at the beginning of the war and to offer stubborn resistance to the enemy.
