The Brazilian Government congratulates Luis Alberto Arce Catacora and David Choquehuanca on their election to the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and salutes the Bolivian people and government for carrying out the electoral process in an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony, for whose success contributed to the independent performance of the Supreme Electoral Court in the official counting of votes, as well as the democratic and constructive attitude of President Jeanine Áñez’s government.
The Brazilian Government welcomes the country’s political forces for respecting the popular will expressed at the polls. Recognizes, in particular, the importance of the participation of independent observers from the missions that accompanied the vote – from the OAS, Parlasul, the European Union, the United Nations, Uniore and the Carter Center Institute – whose scrutiny has contributed to securing legitimacy and transparency the election and ensure that the sovereign desire of the Bolivian people was respected in the choice of their leaders.
The Brazilian Government affirms its willingness to work with the new Bolivian authorities with a view to implementing initiatives of common interest and within the scope of the bonds of friendship, neighborhood and cooperation that unite the two countries and their peoples.
