The Republic of France has issued the following statement:

On October 21, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, hosted Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. This meeting was in line with the effort to strengthen our relationship with that organization initiated at the launch of the Joint France-Francophonie Committee in June 2019 at the Elysée.

Mr. Lemoyne and Ms. Mushikiwabo discussed such major upcoming events as the 37th Francophonie Ministerial Conference to be held in Paris this November, which Mr. Lemoyne will attend, and the 18th Francophonie Summit, marking the organization’s 50th anniversary, to be held in Djerba in November 2021.

They also addressed the organization’s launch of a teacher mobility program and the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française project in Villers-Cotterêts.
