Following the extremely rapid and worrying deterioration of the situation in the canton, the Neuchâtel government is raising the alert level to red. In order to continue providing care to each citizen of this canton while preserving the economy as much as possible, the Council of State is today adopting new measures.
In the Canton of Neuchâtel, contamination is doubling on average every week. This week, the positivity rate of those tested reached 50% compared to 38% last week and 25% two weeks ago. Hospital admissions of patients infected with the coronavirus have increased from 33 Wednesday October 21 to 55 Friday October 23, 2020. Currently, six people are in intensive care, four of whom are intubated. This exponential increase must imperatively be slowed down in order to preserve the health and hospital capacity of the canton.
Faced with this finding, the Neuchâtel Council of State raised the level of red alert and adopted the necessary measures. They will come into force on Saturday, October 24, 2020, 11 p.m.
ban on gatherings of more than ten people in private and public spaces with the exception of religious ceremonies and funerals as well as other exceptions of overriding public interest (meetings of authorities, polling stations, etc. .);
closing of public establishments every day at 11 p.m. at the latest;
limitation to four of the maximum number of people seated at the same table in these public establishments, with the exception of people living in the same household and family;
closure of fitness, wellness centers, swimming pools and bowling;
ban on collective musical activities (choirs, brass bands, etc.);
prohibition of contact sports (football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, combat sports, ballroom dancing, etc.), with the exception of professional practice behind closed doors and individual training;
wearing a mask compulsory and consumption prohibited in markets and fairs.
All the details of these measures are developed in the order of the Council of State validated Friday, October 23. The SCAV is available to the population for any further information via its website.
The State Council will adopt additional measures during the day to request and mobilize the essential resources of the health system. It will also examine over the coming days any additional restrictions on venues.
Given the overload of the system, in particular making appointments in sorting centers, test results and tracing surveys, an adaptation of the strategy is underway at the cantonal public health service and will soon be communicated to inform at best the population. Finally, the Council of State seeks the understanding and collaboration of each citizen in view of the situation and the resources to deal with it.
In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.
