The Khotynetsky District Court of the Oryol Region issued a verdict in a criminal case against a native and resident of the city of Bryansk, who was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed with causing significant damage).

The court established that the attacker, being in the village of Khotynets, Oryol region and posing as a social worker, entered the trust of a 90-year-old woman, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and labor, and convinced her that she was entitled to a monthly cash supplement to her pension. Under the pretext of assisting in obtaining additional benefits and other payments, the man received from her money in the amount of 23 thousand rubles, with which he disappeared.

The court agreed with the position of the public prosecutor and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

The material damage caused to the veteran by the crime was compensated in full.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.
