Deputies of the Council of the Barkovsky Municipal District of the Balashovsky Municipal District of the Saratov Region, including Honored Worker of Agriculture, labor veteran Nikolai Peregudov, retired police colonel Valery Rybak, chairman of the veteran organization of the village Barki Vladimir Zaikin and the head of the Barkovsky Defense Ministry Alexander Fefolin. The restoration work was carried out in the shortest possible time at the production site of the institution.

The capabilities of the production base of the institution allow performing such work, therefore the head of the institution, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service Oleg Martovetsky, responded to this request.

Recall that in 1869, at the expense of Orthodox believers in the village of Borki (now the village of Barki), a wooden Michael the Archangel Church with an area of 410 square meters and a height of 8.5 meters for 400 parishioners with three domes, three forged crosses and six bells was built. In 1938, the temple was destroyed, building materials were sent to build a school and other needs, some of the attributes of the church parish were preserved by local residents.

The restoration of two surviving crosses of the destroyed temple was carried out by two convicts. Each of them has extensive experience in production, but for the first time was able to apply their skills to restore objects that now symbolize the spiritual connection of many generations of local residents.

After restoration, one of the crosses was taken to the village church in the name of St. Spyridon of Trimyphuntsky, and the second was installed at a fraternal burial in the village of Barki.

The head of LIU-3 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Saratov Region, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service, Oleg Martovetsky, is sure that the feasible participation of convicts in the life of the Balashov District teaches those serving sentences to a caring attitude towards others and contributes to their more successful resocialization.
