Media release No. 207/2020

On Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, 2020, the Uri canton police found two drivers of articulated vehicles during heavy traffic controls in the heavy traffic center, who had massively violated the work and rest time regulations.

In the case of the driver of an Italian vehicle, 17 violations were found during the 28-day inspection period. He exceeded the maximum driving times allowed several times. In addition, he misused the tachograph on at least seven working days by removing his driver card from the tachograph and driving the vehicle around 980 kilometers without recording work and rest times. Finally, he ignored the breaks and daily rest periods for days.

Various violations were also found in the driver of a Romanian vehicle during the 28-day control period. Among other things, he was in possession of two driver cards which were issued in his name. In order to be able to adhere to the working and rest hours, he had repeatedly used both driver cards. The travel times of both driver cards showed that the driver disregarded the weekly and daily driving times, the rest periods and breaks several times. The replacement driver card was withdrawn for the attention of the administrative authority.

In addition, the technical inspection of both vehicles revealed several defects. This led to a temporary shutdown of the vehicles. The chauffeurs had to leave a fine of several thousand francs. You will be reported to the Uri public prosecutor.
