As part of the project, Muscovites provide children with all-round assistance, as well as conduct various master classes, excursions and lectures.

For the first month of work on the project “Let’s be friends!” over 200 people have joined. Muscovites are ready to become senior friends for orphans and adolescents in difficult life circumstances. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

“Let’s be friends!” started on September 15 and immediately found a great response among Muscovites. Caring residents of the capital expressed their readiness to become social volunteers, to regularly devote time to children who live in centers for promoting family education or are wards of family centers. Now over 200 people have applied for participation in the project and are undergoing interviews with psychologists and training under a special program. It is pleasant to realize and see that necessary and kind initiatives are so supported in Moscow, ”she said.

90 of those who responded are set for long-term mentoring. They have already filled out the necessary questionnaires and are starting to prepare in the project partner fund – “Big Brothers Big Sisters”.

Another 30 townspeople chose to study at the school of social volunteering of the center “My Career”. Social volunteering is a regular all-round assistance to wards of orphanages, patients in hospitals, living in psycho-neurological boarding schools and other social institutions.

All the rest expressed their readiness to conduct various master classes, excursions, informative lectures and creative activities for children. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, the events will be held online.

As part of the project “Let’s be friends!” mentors make their students’ dreams come true. The first to meet the mentor 15-year-old Nikita, a pupil of the Center for the Promotion of Family Education. Together with professional artist Jennet Taganova, he painted several paintings and learned a lot of interesting things about his favorite hobby.

AND 10 year old Alice from a large family all her life she dreamed of learning how to ride a skateboard. Mentor Ekaterina Babkina gave the girl her first lessons at VDNKh. 12-year-old Stanislava, a pupil of the Izmailovo family center, wanted to learn how to create paintings with a needle and thread. Lyudmila Ushatova prepared a master class on satin stitch embroidery for the girl and her friends. They also visited a theater and dance studio and a language class.

Stars as mentors is another important part of the project. So, famous artists, journalists and public figures meet with children. They talk about the secrets of their work and give the guys a lot of useful advice.
