On Wednesday, October 21, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a conference call with the heads of regions on the situation with the spread of COVID-19 in Ukraine.

The Head of Government voiced statistics on the incidence and heard information about the epidemic situation in Odesa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lviv regions and the city of Kyiv.

Denys Shmyhal noted that according to the calculations of the National Security and Defense Council, in the coming weeks there may be a significant increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Lviv region. The Prime Minister called on heads of regional state administrations (RSA) to switch from supervisory control to active action.

“It is necessary to make a decision on the re-profiling of hospitals. Provide proposals for the deployment of mobile hospitals and calculations on how bed availability can be expanded. A subvention has already been transferred, and by the end of the month 80% of hospital beds must be supplied with oxygen,” the Prime Minister stressed.

In addition, the Prime Minister instructed the heads of Odesa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lviv Regional State Administrations and Kyiv City State Administration to hold regular meetings of the Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies Commissions together with local governments.
