Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of two Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants to the First Congressional District totaling $13,722.  Funds originated from the HUD Housing Counseling Program, which provides funds to HUD approved housing counseling agencies that provide counseling and advice to tenants and homeowners, with respect to property maintenance, financial management and literacy, and other matters as may be appropriate to assist program clients in improving their housing conditions.  Specific grant breakdowns are below:

  • Harford County Housing Agency – $9,393
  • Shore Up!, Inc. – $4,329

Congressman Harris issued the following statement:

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I thank Secretary Carson for awarding these funds to the First Congressional District.  During this pandemic, many families have been struggling as jobs were lost with shutdowns.  This funding will allow our local agencies and nonprofits to provide hands on advice and training to families to address financial and housing issues and get back on their feet as our economy comes roaring back.”
