The crews of the ships of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL), during the final check of forces for 2020, conducted a joint exercise with the duty shift of the territorial control center to detect unidentified air targets and repel air strikes from a mock enemy.

The exercise was attended by duty crews of air defense (air defense) control centers of formations, ship strike groups (KUG) consisting of missile ships “Dagestan” and “Tatarstan” and small missile ships “Uglich” and “Veliky Ustyug”, the Buk- M3 “of the 58th Combined Arms Army and radio engineering units of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Southern Military District (YuVO).

According to the plan of the exercise, near the borders of the Russian Federation, air defense systems detected a group target classified as a simulated enemy aircraft. At the signal of the KFL Control Center, the air defense systems of the ships were put on readiness for use, the reception and analysis of data on the air situation began. The ships have activated electronic protection equipment.

The role of a mock enemy in the exercise was played by the Su-27 fighters and the Su-25 attack aircraft of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Southern Military District, which imitated the striking of cruise missiles on ships.

In the course of repelling air attack weapons, training targets (SAB-250 luminous bombs) were destroyed from the Broadsword anti-aircraft artillery mount, AK-630 artillery mounts and other means of ship air defense.

During this stage of the exercise, the issues of target allocation and firing missions between the command posts of naval and ground air defense systems were worked out.

In addition, within the framework of the exercise, the EW KUG subunits worked out actions to disable the navigation systems of aviation and electronic equipment of surface ships of the imaginary enemy.

Also, the crews of the ships of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL) as part of the naval strike groups (KUG) conducted a joint exercise with the combat crews of the Sunflower over-the-horizon radar station (radar) to detect and destroy imaginary enemy ships in the sea range in the Caspian Sea.

One of the main features of the Podsolnukh radar is the view, which allows detecting sea surface and air objects at different heights, both within the line of sight and beyond the horizon.

According to the plan of the exercise, radar calculations detected a group of surface ships and deck helicopters of naval aviation. According to intelligence and objective technical information, the targets were identified as a conditional enemy.

The crews of the Dagestan and Tatarstan missile ships, as well as the Veliky Ustyug and Uglich small missile ships, having received data on objects from the Sunflower radar, made target distribution for a simultaneous effective missile strike.

The combat crews of the KUG carried out electronic launches of the “Caliber” missiles, destroying the ships – carriers of high-precision missile weapons of the conventional enemy.
