According to the director of the Department of Rescue Formations Igor Kutrovsky, while working within the zones of responsibility, pyrotechnic crews made more than 150 trips, defused more than 1.2 thousand explosive objects, including 356 bombs.
“This year, the work was carried out in the territories of the Republic of Crimea, Tver, Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions, New Moscow, as well as the waters of the Black and Baltic seas,” said I. Kutrovsky.
Thus, on the territory of the Tver region, as a result of the work, more than 2.2 thousand explosive objects were discovered and neutralized, an area of 67 hectares was cleared. Also, during the work, the remains of 9 Red Army soldiers were discovered, who were subsequently reburied with military honors in the Oleninsky district of the Tver region.
On the territory of the Kerch fortress in the Republic of Crimea, the specialists of the Leader Center detachment neutralized more than 7.2 thousand explosives, cleared an area of 38 hectares. For the first time in the entire history of the use of pyrotechnic units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 24 high-explosive aerial bombs of 1934 weighing 2 thousand kg were discovered, neutralized and destroyed.
In the Leningrad Region, during the work, more than 240 explosive objects were neutralized, an area of over 12 hectares was cleared.
In the Kaliningrad region, work was carried out with a barge flooded during the Second World War on the outer roadstead of the port of Baltiysk and the sunken ship “Jean Jaures” in the Black Sea. In the Kaliningrad region, work continues.
The pyrotechnic divers performed more than 370 diving descents, discovered, raised to the surface and destroyed over 19.5 thousand explosive objects and more than 28.5 thousand cartridges.
Pyrotechnic units of 270 people are equipped with modern special equipment, robotic systems, devices for searching and detecting explosive objects, as well as personal body armor.
In order to organize the protection of the population and territories from emergencies related to the disposal of explosive objects in 2021, pyrotechnics plan to continue the search, disposal and destruction of explosive objects.
