SAUGERTIES, NY – Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) joined Saugerties Town Supervisor Fred Costello to walk Main and Partition Streets and meet with small business owners to understand how they are navigating the pandemic. During the visit, Rep. Delgado discussed his vote for the updated Heroes Act, which included his Small Business Debt Relief Extension Act to automatically extend repayment measures for qualified SBA loans, as well as his Prioritized Paycheck Protection Program or P4 Act, which allows the hardest hit businesses to apply for additional PPP funding. The bill also incorporated Rep. Delgado’s Direct Support for Communities Act. This legislation creates a distribution formula for state and local funding to ensure that all localities, regardless of size, receive direct federal support.
“New York’s 19th Congressional District is home to 27,000 small businesses and self-employed owners who are pivotal to our upstate economy. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, it is essential that I hear from business owners all across our district to understand how they’re utilizing federal programs available to them,” said Rep. Delgado. “The last time Congress worked in a bipartisan fashion to provide for our communities was March, and it is clear from my conversations with folks that additional assistance is needed. I’ve voted for multiple federal relief packages that included measures I introduced to support small businesses and provide funding for state and local governments. I stand ready to vote for future solutions that will assist our upstate businesses and give our communities the tools they need to rebuild.”
“We want to thank Congressman Delgado for taking the time to meet with small businesses in our community. I think the businesses appreciated the opportunity to share their stories related to how they have been impacted by the pandemic. I know their input will help guide the congressman as he helps plan the federal government’s continued response to the ongoing pandemic,” said Fred Costello Jr., Supervisor, Town of Saugerties.
