State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov opened the CSKA maritime and physical training sports center in Astrakhan after a major overhaul.
“Today we are opening a sports swimming complex in Astrakhan. It has its own interesting history, marked by many victories at all-Russian and international competitions, ”Pankov said at the opening ceremony.
“Reconstruction of the swimming complex, I think, will serve the further development of physical culture and sports not only in the Caspian flotilla, but in the whole city of Astrakhan,” he continued.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the military department is developing sports in the RF Armed Forces, including improving the physical culture and sports infrastructure.
“This is an important task, this is not an easy task, it is a financially intensive task, but we are trying to consistently solve this problem, from year to year, from object to object, improving and developing the sports infrastructure of our Russian army,” he said.
The construction of a new pool bowl, overhaul of the sports complex in Astrakhan are part of a large-scale program to modernize sports facilities of the RF Armed Forces.
Last year, the stadium of the CSKA branch in Rostov-on-Don was reconstructed. The construction of an equestrian center and an international land obstacle course at the CSKA sports center in Vatutinki is underway. In St. Petersburg, the sports base of the Military Institute of Physical Culture and Sports is being modernized. The development of the CSKA sports base in the regions will enable young athletes to prepare for victories at world-class competitions, using modern sports facilities and simulators and applying the latest techniques.
