In the Moscow region, at the Alabino training ground, servicemen of the tank regiment of the Taman motorized rifle division of the Guards Tank Red Banner Army of the Western Military District used cumulative ammunition as part of control fires.

Crews of T-72B3 tanks fired from 125-mm smooth-bore guns at emerging and moving targets imitating tanks, low-flying helicopters and positions of simulated enemy grenade launchers at distances from 1000 to 2000 meters. To defeat heavily armored targets, tankers used cumulative ammunition with increased armor penetration.

Colonel Alexei Polyakov, the commander of a tank regiment, was the first to perform a test firing exercise, setting an example to personnel.

More than 100 servicemen took part in the live firing, and about 30 military and special equipment of the ZVO tank army were involved.
