Source: BMW Group Munich. The BMW Group is systematically continuing its initiatives to promote electromobility. With BMW Points, the world’s first bonus program for drivers of BMW plug-in hybrid models, the company is creating additional incentives for increasing the proportion of electric driving in everyday traffic. All-electric and therefore locally emission-free driving is rewarded with BMW Points. The driver is credited one point for every purely electrically driven kilometer. Within areas defined as the BMW eDrive Zone, the use of the purely electric driving mode is even awarded double the number of points. The points collected can then be converted into credit that can be redeemed when charging the high-voltage battery at public charging stations from BMW Charging. In this way, drivers of a plug-in hybrid model from the BMW brand can actively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions with every purely electric kilometer, and at the same time further reduce the operating costs of their vehicle. The new digital service is available in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Further markets will follow in the course of 2020. “With the innovative BMW Points bonus program, we are combining our technological expertise in electromobility and digitalization in order to make sustainable mobility even more attractive for drivers of BMW plug-in hybrid models,” explains Pieter Nota, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for customers, brands and sales. More BMW Points, fewer emissions: every kilometer counts. The digital service BMW Points rewards drivers of BMW plug-in hybrid models who drive purely electrically reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and noise emissions in city traffic and thus contribute to an increase in the quality of life in the urban environment. The innovative bonus program increases the motivation to charge the high-voltage battery regularly in order to use the electric range of current BMW plug-in hybrid models as intensively as possible for locally emission-free mobility, especially in the city, but also when commuting between home and work BMW Points are automatically collected during the journey on an individual customer account integrated in the My BMW app. In this way, the driver of a BMW plug-in hybrid model can score particularly comfortably on every kilometer with a purely electric drive. When a certain number of points is reached, it can be converted into credit. 1,250 BMW Points correspond to a credit of 10 euros. For 3,000 points, 25 euros are credited, for 5,800 points 50 euros. These bonuses can be used via the digital service BMW Charging at public charging stations to charge the high-voltage battery. Initial experience: BMW Points generate significant added value. Just a few weeks after the start of BMW Points in the first European automobile markets, anonymized Customer data determine that the customer succeeds straight away in generating significant ecological and emotional added value by collecting points. The special feature here: BMW Points specifically rewards the sustainable mobility behavior of customers, as the bonuses in the form of a top-up credit enable them to additional locally emission-free kilometers without additional costs. In this way, customers and the environment benefit equally from this innovative digital service. As part of the further development of BMW Points, further options for collecting points are analyzed as well as additional options for redeeming the collected points. In the future, too, the focus will be clearly on creating incentives for sustainable mobility behavior. Manage BMW Points conveniently with the My BMW app. BMW Points and BMW eDrive Zone services can be used as standard in all current BMW plug-in hybrid models. which are equipped with the latest generation of the display and control system, the BMW Operating System 7, as well as the BMW Live Cockpit Plus or Professional. This includes the plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series * and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X5 xDrive45e. Further models will follow continuously. A BMW ConnectedDrive account is required to collect BMW Points. The customer can use the My BMW app to conveniently manage their points balance on their smartphone. The BMW Points can also be redeemed when charging the high-voltage battery using the My BMW app in combination with the BMW Charging digital charging service with innovative digital services important impulses for more sustainability on the roads. “We are constantly working on further developing the brand-typical driving pleasure and sustainability together,” says Pieter Nota. “Digitization offers us the opportunity to take our customers’ wishes even better into account in the future and to focus on them.” ——————————————————————— ————————————————— Unique combination: BMW Points and BMW eDrive Zone.BMW Points links up with the digital service BMW eDrive Zone introduced in spring. With him, BMW has taken on a pioneering role in promoting electromobility in inner-city road traffic. As soon as a BMW plug-in hybrid vehicle equipped with this service enters an eDrive zone, an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode is carried out. The eDrive Zones include, on the one hand, the official urban environmental zones in Germany, and, on the other hand, other core areas of cities in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Geo-fencing via GPS is used to identify a BMW eDrive zone. This service is already available for the city areas of 94 European cities. Other inner city areas designated as BMW eDrive Zone will follow. Together, the BMW eDrive Zone and BMW Points services help to fully exploit the potential of plug-in hybrid models to reduce emissions in inner-city traffic. With the innovative combination of BMW Points and BMW eDrive Zones in the automotive sector, the BMW Group is once again underlining its ability to consistently use technological expertise in the fields of electromobility and digitalization to promote sustainable individual mobility at a premium level Premium brand BMW are now available in all relevant vehicle segments; Their electric range is further increased by the latest battery cell technology. The new BMW Points and BMW eDrive Zone functions ensure even better use of the potential of plug-in hybrid vehicles, whose electric motor is consistently more efficient than a petrol or diesel drive, especially in city traffic. Increasing the proportion of electric driving therefore not only helps to optimize efficiency and reduce emissions, but also to reduce operating costs for the customer.BMW plug-in hybrid models: many advantages in everyday use. BMW’s in-hybrid models offer users even more advantages compared to traditional drives: Saving money: Electric driving in the city is cheaper than with petrol and diesel if the plug-in hybrid vehicle is inexpensive to charge at home or at the employer Tax advantage: For company vehicles with plug-in hybrid drives, only half the gross list price is used to determine the monetary benefit for private use in Germany. Always the right temperature when you get in: auxiliary heating and cooling are standard. Whoever brakes, wins: The battery is recharged by braking. Conventional vehicles only generate heat and brake wear. The best of both worlds: Plug-in hybrid models offer electric driving pleasure in the city and classic BMW driving pleasure on long journeys. More quality of life in cities: users can be active by activating the electric driving mode contribute to reducing emissions and traffic noise in cities.
