Targeted support and relief

On Wednesday, the leading economic research institutes presented their autumn forecast. In this they revise their forecast for this and next year by one percentage point each time. The economic and energy policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Joachim Pfeiffer, and the deputy group chairman, Carsten Linnemann, explain:

Pfeiffer: The current economic forecast shows that the economic crisis is far from over. The greatest uncertainty is the course of the pandemic. It is therefore imperative to enforce the burden moratorium. Additional burdens for the economy and especially the important medium-sized companies must be avoided at all costs. At the same time, as announced today, sectors of the economy that have been severely affected by the crisis must be supported more specifically. Quick and decisive action is required in order to maintain the basic and successful economic structures and to revive the economy. “

Linnemann: “The figures show that the crisis will be with us for a long time. As suggested by the majority of the institutes, we must therefore provide more targeted support to the companies that have been particularly hard hit by the crisis, for example by expanding aid for the solo and very small self-employed. We should also expand loss offsetting so that current losses can be better offset against profits from recent years. At the same time, in view of rising unit labor costs, we have to relieve the economy and question all laws that would mean additional burdens. We mustn’t put any obstacles in the way of the economy during this time, but rather we have to create space for growth and innovation. “
