The Russian Ministry of Defense discussed the development of the concept of high-altitude landing in the Armed Forces. “High-altitude airborne assault is currently one of the important methods of delivering servicemen to the operation site,” Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces Lieutenant General Alexander Vyaznikov reported to Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

Specialists of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and industry studied the characteristics of promising samples of parachute systems that allow landing from a height of 10 thousand meters at a free fall speed of up to 350 km / h, advanced navigation equipment, new generation communication systems that allow operation in a wide temperature range, as well as oxygen , medical and special equipment.

Particular attention was paid to the development of the system of training centers and the introduction of transportable hypobaric pressure chamber modules for the training of military personnel.

Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yu.B. Yevkurov pointed out the need for close interaction on this issue between the military command and control bodies and the developers of amphibious equipment and equipment as his main priorities, and also drew attention to the advisability of adopting advanced weapons and military equipment of domestic production.

The event was attended by representatives of the main command of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the command of the Airborne Forces, the command of long-range aviation, the main communications directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as enterprises of the military-industrial complex: Scientific and Production Center for Automation and Instrumentation named after Academician N.A. Pilyugin, JSC Polet Ivanovo Parachute Plant (Tekhnodinamika holding).

For the first time in history, on April 26, 2020, a group of Russian paratroopers made jumps from a height of 10 thousand meters in the Arctic latitudes. The landing took place from Il-76 aircraft in the area of ​​the Franz Josef Land archipelago. The fighters used the latest high-altitude landing equipment, in particular, they had a new generation of special purpose parachute systems, special oxygen and navigation equipment, created specifically for work in the harsh Arctic conditions.
