From October 19, pupils of the sixth – 11th grades will study remotely. The measure will be introduced for two weeks due to the epidemiological situation. At the same time, pupils of the first – fifth grades will return to full-time education. This decision was made after discussion with sanitary doctors and teachers. This was announced by Sergei Sobyanin in my blog.

Until October 18th, schools have autumn holidays. This year their decided to extend up to two weeks to reduce the spread of viral diseases. According to the Mayor of Moscow, this measure had its effect. Among the sick in recent days, the proportion of children has decreased from 19 to 11 percent. However, the number of reported new cases of COVID-19 is still increasing. So, on October 12, 1250 people were hospitalized. The daily number of new cases is approaching five thousand.

“Older students are more at risk of contracting coronavirus infection. They account for two thirds of sick children. From the experience of the spring months, we know that high school students are quite successfully adapting to the distance learning format. It is more difficult for the younger ones. In addition, parents cannot leave them alone with the online platform and go to work themselves. A special situation among fifth graders. This is the first year of high school, with a new homeroom teacher and new teachers. The period is quite stressful for the child. Therefore, it will be better if they also return to school, ”the Moscow Mayor wrote.

In addition, from October 19 to November 1, additional education institutions and children’s leisure organizations subordinate to the Moscow Government will not work. At the same time, kindergartens work as usual.

All non-governmental educational organizations are recommended to take similar measures.

“The decisions that we made today, of course, are not easy, but today they are simply necessary, taking into account both the epidemiological situation and the needs of schoolchildren in receiving quality education. Taking into account the existing experience and new capabilities of the Moscow Electronic School, I hope we will succeed in this, ”added Sergei Sobyanin.

Junior School Transport Cards will be unlocked. High school students will still not be able to use the right of free travel.

They also plan to introduce a new teaching format in schools – tutoring. The lessons will be taught by students and graduates of pedagogical universities, and experienced teachers will help and control the educational process remotely. This format will be introduced in separate classes in two to three weeks. According to the Mayor of Moscow, this will better protect older teachers and teachers with chronic diseases from the threat of infection.

“In addition, when the city begins to receive industrial consignments of the coronavirus vaccine, senior teachers (but under 60) and teachers with chronic diseases will receive priority access to it,” Sergei Sobyanin said.
