Headline: AMERICA/PERU – Reflections of the Bishops of Amazonia on the Encyclical Fratelli tutti
Puerto Maldonado – “The text of the new Encyclical Fratelli tutti fits perfectly with the Encyclical Laudato Sì , appealing to the whole world to take care of the Common Home. Now the Pope calls us to live in fraternity, to cultivate social friendship in the world. In a world without borders, where the focus is to build a better and more just world”. It is in this spirit, a week after the publication of the Encyclical Fratelli tutti of Pope Francis that the Amazonian Center for Anthropology and Practical Application has set up an interesting initiative. The Bishops of the Peruvian Amazon held a virtual public event aimed at analyzing the Pope’s new text “from an Amazonian perspective”. To this end, a coincidence was noted: Fratelli tutti has eight chapters, a number equal to that of the Bishops of the Peruvian forest, allowing each Bishope to reflect and analyze a chapter of the Encyclical, seeking to actualize it to one own’s pastoral and social situation.
