Bogotá (Oct. 13/20). Foreign Minister Claudia Blum highlighted the result of the Lima Group meeting, and said that “with this Declaration, the Lima Group has taken a step forward to demand that there be justice and that impunity be avoided for the serious crimes denounced by the UN Independent Mission. Likewise, it is a solid message to the international community in the face of the need to reject the electoral fraud that the illegitimate Maduro regime is shaping in Venezuela ”.

At the end of the Lima Group meeting, held today October 13, a Declaration signed by 14 countries was adopted, which includes, among others, the following topics:

Support for interim president Juan Guaidó and the National Assembly is renewed.
The strong rejection of the persistence of the regime in holding parliamentary elections without democratic guarantees is expressed.
It is reiterated that democracy will be fully restored only with free and guaranteed general presidential and parliamentary elections.
The systematic human rights violations and alleged crimes against humanity documented by the UN Independent International Mission are condemned and it is recommended that the Report be the subject of a preliminary examination carried out by the International Criminal Court.
International authorities are called upon to thoroughly investigate the relations of the illegitimate regime with organized crime, terrorism, corruption, and other international criminal manifestations.
They reiterate the importance of international cooperation in dealing with the migratory situation in host countries.
