As part of the control check over the summer period of training, tankmen of the separate Krasnoselskaya Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the combined-arms army of the Western Military District, stationed in the Leningrad Region, performed control firing exercises with live shells at emerging and moving targets.

The servicemen with fire from the standard armament of the T-72B3 tank hit more than a hundred targets imitating the manpower and armored vehicles of a conventional enemy, located at a distance of 500 to 1800 meters. The order of appearance of targets was divided into three options that were not known to the crews before the start of the exercise.

For three minutes, the gunner-operators fired continuously from 125-mm tank guns and 7.62-mm PKT machine guns both on the move and from short installations. In addition, the servicemen complied with the standards for boarding a tank, firing the first shot at a detected target, solving firing tasks, incomplete disassembly and assembly after incomplete disassembly of the machine gun.

In order to comply with the sanitary and epidemiological regime in the places where the crews were built and inside the fighting compartment of the tank, the personnel were in personal protective equipment – medical masks and gloves.
