Headline: AMERICA/PANAMA – Archbishop to farmers: land is sacred and cannot be sold
Panama – “Let us not be tempted to sell our inheritance, our land, because we live on it and it is sacred; we must not allow speculators to invade your fields and you should turn down offers from those who want to buy this land, otherwise you could end up being forced to leave your own country”, said Archbishop of Panama, Mgr. José Domingo Ulloa, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the National Authority for the Administration of the Territory . The Archbishop congratulated all the employees of Anati and praised the important social work they have done, but also reminded of the situation of the farmers who, because of their poverty, are tempted to sell their land or to accept tempting offers from private speculators. The administrator of Anati, José Gabriel Montenegro, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continue protecting the country.
