The first ‘Clasico’ between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be played at 16:00 local time on October 24th, La Liga confirmed on Monday.
The timing of the game from Matchday 7 in the calendar is designed for Asian fans of the Spanish giants and repeats the formula used by La Liga in recent seasons.
The ongoing coronavirus crisis means the match will be played without supporters in Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium, but it could coincide with a possible vote of no-confidence in Barca President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, after an opposition group collected enough signatures to force a vote.
Champions League commitments in the week previous to the match means that Barca will have 24 hours more to prepare for the match than Real Madrid. Ronald Koeman’s men entertain Hungarian underdogs Ferencvaros on Tuesday, Sept 20th, while Real Madrid are at home to Ukrainian side, Shakhtar Donetsk.
