Current works by 66 artists from Obwalden and Nidwalden will be shown there until October 25, 2020. A five-person jury headed by art expert Peter Fischer selected 18 of them for the selection exhibition, which will take place in Stans in autumn 2021. The cantons of Obwalden and Nidwalden have been holding art exhibitions together for more than twenty years. This year, the overview exhibition, which is organized every three years by the cultural commissions of the two cantons, is taking place in the Giswil turbine. All artists who have a close relationship with at least one of the two cantons, either because of their biography or through their longstanding artistic work, are eligible to participate. Works by a total of 66 artists are shown at NOW 20. These include professionally working artists of national and international renown as well as artists who are semi-professional or mainly active in their free time. Painting, drawing and collage are represented in the exhibition as well as sculpture, installation, photography and video. The exhibition organizer Tide Zihlmann from Stans carried out the placement and presentation of the individual works in the spacious hall. With regard to the NOW 21 selection exhibition that will follow next year, the organizing culture commissions of the two cantons convened a five-person jury of experts. Peter Fischer (freelance art expert and former director of the Lucerne Art Museum and the Paul Klee Center) held the presidency. Other members included Yasmin Afschar (curator at the Aargauer Kunsthaus), Thomas Muff (artist from Lucerne), Heinz Anderhalden (representative of the Obwalden Culture Commission) and Elionora Amstutz (representative of the Nidwalden Culture Commission). Of the 66 artists participating in NOW 20 and The jury selected 18 artists for the selection exhibition. You are invited to show more works in Stans in one year. As part of the selection exhibition, the Unterwaldner Prize for Fine Art will be awarded.
