Thames Valley Police is releasing a CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to following an attempted robbery in Oxford.

It happened just after 5.15pm on Friday 18 September, when the victim, a man in his thirties, was walking by Lloyds Bank on High Street when he was approached by a man who tried to take his backpack.

The victim fought off the man and nothing was stolen and the victim did not sustain any injuries. The man then fled the scene running down Cornmarket Street.

Police staff investigator Joanne Reeve said: “I believe the man in this image may have vital information that could help our investigation.

“If you recognise this man, or believe it could be you, please get in touch.

“Likewise if you witnessed this incident or have any information, we would like to hear from you.
