On September 13, the Russian National Humanitarian Response Corps celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The response corps was created in 1995 in accordance with the decisions of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation. It was created on the basis of the forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia to solve the problems of providing assistance to foreign states in emergency situations.
The RNKCHGR includes aviation EMERCOM of Russia, rescuers, an airmobile hospital and the Emercom Agency, which provides logistical support for humanitarian operations carried out both on a bilateral basis and jointly with UN structures, the International Civil Defense Organization and other international organizations.
Over 25 years, with the participation of the Response Corps, about 500 international operations have been carried out and assistance has been provided to more than 100 countries. When providing assistance to foreign countries, the RNCCHGR solves a wide range of tasks. This is the delivery of humanitarian aid cargoes necessary for the priority provision of the affected population, including with the use of aviation and road transport units, search and rescue operations, the provision of medical assistance directly in the emergency zone on the basis of an airmobile hospital, extinguishing natural and large man-made fires using aviation, humanitarian demining of post-conflict areas and many others.
The Response Corps is armed with Be-200 ChS, Il-76 aircraft, Mi-26 helicopters, which makes the grouping of forces and assets self-sufficient and operational in responding to emergencies anywhere in the world.
It should be noted that the effectiveness of a humanitarian operation largely depends on how quickly aid arrives in the disaster area. And this, in turn, is the saved human lives.
The response corps is currently based in the Moscow region. Today, work is underway to prepare and include in the corps of rescue and aviation units, which are located in Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk, which will allow in the future to quickly respond to emergencies in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, the Siberian regional search and rescue squad of the EMERCOM of Russia has already successfully passed the international certification according to the INSARAG methodology, similar events are planned for next year for the Far Eastern RPSO.
