Shenzhen Party chief Wang Weizhong and mayor Chen Rugui paid an inspection tour to Tianhong Supermarket and Luohu Long-Distance Bus Station on Oct. 1 to find out whether the market was properly stocked, how the pandemic control work has been carried out and how safe public transport will be during the National Day holiday.
They also extended the National Day and Mid-Autumn Day festival wishes to the staff still at their posts.
The Tianhong Supermarket’s stock of fresh food is about twice its normal level. Wang and Chen inquired about where the food had come from and about quality inspections.
Wang pointed out that all relevant departments must ensure all pandemic control work is done to avoid negating the previous efforts. Moreover, it was most important to ensure the high quality of the goods being sold. In the quality inspection system, food items must be traceable back to their origin, so that the consumers can feel reassured; all relevant departments must make concrete efforts to ensure market supply, strengthen quality supervision and management of the market order to ensure the stock is sufficient and the price is stable.
During the inspection of Luohu Long-Distance Bus Station, a major station of its kind in Shenzhen that connects with the rest of Guangdong province, Wang and Chen inquired about the changes in the number of passengers the station has been handling in recent days. They checked to see whether the health code app has been properly used and how the station has conducted its pandemic control work and served its passengers. They also listened to reports from the transport departments about how the city will ensure its traffic safety during the holiday.
Wang stressed that given the people’s strong willingness to travel during the holiday, traffic management departments must strictly implement an accountability system, strengthen supervision, optimize services, increase the visibility of traffic police on the highway, strictly punish drunk driving, illegal use of transportation, overloading, and other unlawful behaviors on the road, and properly respond to emergencies.
He also said that transport departments should use technological means to prevent traffic congestion in key regions and near scenic areas and disclose important information in a timely manner.
