This was a major transportation project with the aim of improving the traffic situation and completing the traffic infrastructure in Nha Be district and the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City.

The bridge had a total investment of VND405 billion (US$17.47 million) and measures 386m in length and 10.5m in width.

After the final segment of the bridge is fully installed, the progress of the project will be accelerated to open the bridge to traffic by the end of this year.

The new bridge will replace the old Phuoc Loc Bridge which is 72m long and only 2.9m wide and is severely degraded.

The construction of the new bridge was approved by the city’s Department of Transport in late 2008 and construction commenced in 2012. However, due to problems in land clearance the construction was suspended from July 2013 until June 2020.

So far, 90% volume of the project has been completed and it is scheduled to be put into operation in December this year.
