Please help make the festive season brighter for a family experiencing hardship by donating to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal 2020.

The City of Wanneroo is welcoming donations of non-perishable food and toys to distribute to local people in need this Christmas.

Mayor Tracey Roberts is reaching out to residents to help vulnerable people in the community.

“Christmas can be a wonderful time, but it can also be very hard for those who are struggling,” Mayor Roberts said.

“Every year, I am heartened by the caring spirit of our community, who give generously to support those who need it most. Since 2000, the City has been able to help hundreds of local families through the Appeal.

“I know that while we have all faced unexpected challenges this year, our community will once again rally to support those who are doing it the toughest.

“If you are able to, please consider purchasing a few extra goods when grocery shopping or buying an extra Christmas gift for the Appeal. Each and every donation makes a difference to our most vulnerable and we are truly appreciative.”

St Vincent de Paul Society Executive Manager, Member and Volunteer Services, Andrew York said the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal was very important as it helped people who need it the most.

“Christmas is a difficult time for people experiencing hardship, and with the impact of the crisis this year, vulnerable people in our community need this support more than ever,” he said.

To help a local family have a brighter Christmas, drop a donation into one of the Appeal boxes located at the City’s Civic Centre in Wanneroo, libraries, senior citizens centres, schools and a number of local businesses by Friday, 20 November.
