Press Release

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY – Yesterday, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) visited Valley Presbyterian Hospital to thank the frontline heroes who are working tirelessly to keep Valley families safe. Cárdenas spoke about his work in Congress to provide relief to families and support to hospitals and healthcare workers as our nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our frontline heroes are working around the clock to keep us safe and save lives,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “Many of them are working 80 hours a week because of the influx of cases we are seeing. I want to thank the selfless men and women who are on the frontlines treating patients and keeping essential services running. I understand the tremendous sacrifices they are making, and I sincerely appreciate their service to our country. I will continue fighting to provide the much-needed support to hospitals and healthcare workers and I will always have their backs.”

During his visit, the Congressman toured wings of the hospital and met with the Valley Presbyterian leadership to discuss his work in Washington and listen to the concerns.

Last week, the House passed the updated Heroes Act that, if passed, would provide billions of dollars in support to first responders, hospitals, and healthcare workers. Earlier this week, President Donald Trump abruptly announced that he would end COVID relief negotiations and gave no indication of restarting them this month.
