Vaud State

Posted on October 9, 2020

In order to become more efficient and facilitate its access to the public, the Council of State has taken the decision in principle to consolidate the civil status into a single site in Lausanne. This reorganization will facilitate the management of resources currently dispersed over several sites, allow synergies between professionals and the opening of counters to the public. Civil registration offices will be created in the main maternity hospitals in the canton. The implementation of this new organization is envisaged in the next two years.

The Council of State has decided to reorganize the Vaudois civil status, which should be regrouped in Lausanne within two years.

With the opening of a central window, civil status will become more accessible. The grouping in Lausanne will also make it possible, after having registered a civil status event, to go directly to the Biometrics and Identity Documents Center to modify an identity document. on one site will not prevent the possibility of celebrating weddings and partnerships throughout the canton, officers will continue to visit the wedding halls of the different regions.

At the same time, civil status branches will be created in the main maternity hospitals in the canton, in order to facilitate birth registration.
